The food is yummy and the service is friendly! IMO they are definitely better then Moe's! They have the exact same set up but of course they don't yell "Welcome to Moe's" or anything of that nature. They have a different menu and I have only been there a couple times and usually just get a burrito but every time I have eaten there I have been pleased. I have had both their Carne Asada and Pulled Pork, now I get their Pulled Pork every time!

The three of us used the same word...disappointing. All of us agreed that the food was tasteless. If you don't like the flavors in Mexican food, Bajio is for you. There is absolutely no comparison to Chipotle Grill which unfortunately cannot be found in Southwest Florida. Nope.

This is one of my favorite Mexican places in Fort Myers & I've tried a lot of them. I will say that I'm not a big fan of Mexican cuisine, but my husband is! I also do not like Chipotle or Moe's. With that said, I really like Bajio! It has gone through many changes. They did try serving a set down style, and had alot of great new menu options, but recently had to go back to the original style. Which is typical of what you might find a Moe's or Chipotle; get up to the line and tell them what you want and work your way down the line to add on your items of choice. I'm pretty picky so being able to pick what I want on my taco or whatever is a good thing. Everything my husband & I have ordered has been delicious! It's a great value as well, for 2 people (who eat a lot) we only spend an average of $20! They also have specials each day of the week. I would recommend this place to all my friends! The staff is friendly, they keep the line clean & the food fresh!! It's a great place to grab a bite to eat! We go often & like it better than all of the Mexican restaurant we've been to in area!

Perfect for a quick bite! I dislike chipotle and prefer Moe's when I'm doin Mexican-ish fast food then I found this place!!! Anytime I'm over this way I will totally go! The guy Miguel helped me a lot and did a special order....pineapple shrimp burrito w/side of queso & green salsa! Mmm good! I saw him grill my shrimp and then topped it off with beans, rice, guac, sour cream&tomatoes. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan was the queso otherwise all was good!

Good food and good prices. Stopped in for a quick bite. The two of us just ordered a couple of items from the A La Carte menu. Cheese Crisp -- LOTS of cheese on this but the crisp was deep fried more (or longer?) than we could have anticipated. It was dripping in grease and was exactly like an elephant ear except a ton of cheese was melted on top of it. We just scraped the cheese off and left the greasy crisp. Shrimp Taco -- VERY sweet sauce, but the overall taco was really good. Included lettuce, choice of salsa, sour cream, and cilantro. One taco was plenty for someone not uber hungry. For a quick stop, check it out. It sure beats Taco Bell!

Basically a Chipotle with better menu choices and fancier decor. Very good!

Awesome Mexican / Southwestern style food here. Love the food, though the wait in line can be quite long unless you go at non rush hour times.

I eat at Bajio at least 3 times a week, it hands down beats Moes, Chipotle, or Tijuana Flats. Idk how these people can say it is expensive, everything on the menu is under 9 dollars with sides and all, and the portions are quite large. They also have a special everyday where you get the menu item of the day, 2 sides and a drink for 5 dollars. Thats cheaper then a value meal at a fast food place, and its jammed packed with nutrition and generally low fat. The staff is friendly, the service is quick, the decor is even very inviting. I highly recommend Bajio to anyone who has never been there.

Great fresh Mexican. Love the marinated meats. Chips are great. Overall I come here often and so does the fire and police guys.

It was just ok, nothing better. However it was better than a Moe's SW Grill. It's not hard to be better than a Moe's. I had a burrito with sweet pork. Nothing to write home about. The ordering experience was weird. The menu board was only in one spot. I think they were short staffed as no one was working the first station to take your order.

Pork tacos. So far the best I've had since I used to go to Pancho Villa in San Mateo, CA (look it up). Everything fresh and made in front of you. Small menu and reasonable prices. It's a chain, but I won't hold that against it.

I have lived in Fort Myers since 2011 and can't believe I never knew about this place until I saw it on Yelp. My first visit today left the following impressions. Other reviewers were correct in that it is something like a Moe's or Chipotle...you view the menu on the wall, order at the counter, walking down the line while they add your desired items. The daily special ($5.50 plus tax) was an enchilada (beef, pork or chicken) plus 2 sides and a fountain drink, so I tried that. The man gave me a choice of meat, whether I wanted mild or spicy sauce on it, and he put that in the tortilla and folded it up. I usually like cheese inside enchiladas also, but whatever. I chose chicken in tomato sauce as my meat...they also had chicken in a green sauce. He then asked me which kind of rice I wanted, and which kind of beans. Every other option was put on top of the enchilada...onions, corn, lettuce, cheese, cilantro, and pico de gallo. Then he gave me a soda cup and I paid. I asked for a side of guacamole, which is extra, but he didn't charge me. I went and got soda, and noticed there was no salsa bar or option to add anything to my rice and beans. Also, I didn't get any chips, and I usually like something crunchy with my enchilada. Looking at the menu again, I saw a pic of an enchilada plate with chips and beans, but no rice...so maybe chips are a side item...but I was not offered that as a choice, and they are not on the menu as a side or a la carte item. Next time I will ask. They did have hot sauce and Tabasco on the tables. All that said, everything was fresh and tasted good, especially for the price...so I will return again!

I usually eat here once a week for lunch. The lunch special has recently been raised from about $5 to about $5.50. Not a big deal as it comes with a refillable drink. Guacamole and sour cream are extra. The tacos are very yummy. I like the lime chicken with seasoned rice and black beans as sides. The sides are usually kind of cold. Not sure what's up with that. Coke products for drinks. If you get behind a bunch of university students there for lunch it can take a while. Wifi.

Excellent Mexican food! I am in love with the special of the day because it gives me, a poor college kid, the ability to try everything. I recommend this place to everyone!

Good "Chipotle" style Mexican restaurant. You can order tacos, nachos, salads, etc and put what ever toppings/fillings you want on them. They make everything fresh in the back. I ordered the nachos which were great and my husband ordered the beef tacos. Their ingredients were fresh and tasty. My favorite, was the order of chips and queso. Its made with American cheese, jalopeno and cilantro. It was the best.

So I came in expecting typical american tex mex calling themselves authentic Mexican and that's pretty much what I got with maybe a tad bit more flavor. The food was good, I had the quesadilla platter, but the black beans had a funky flavor I didn't care for. I think u could get just a fresh and tasty a meal at chipotle. Another bummer was the lack of Anything to drink other than soda or beer, both of which I don't drink. I don't think id go back :/

To be honest, this is by far the worst excuse for Mexican food I have personally experienced. I know I gave Senor tequila's a bad rep but Bajio's takes the cake. I can't even say one good thing about the meal I had. a burrito bowl with bland rice, beans, chicken in warm liquid broth to be pulled from with tongs to slop on my plate. Ugh. And the toppings..are they from cans? Never again for me. 1 star for below mediocre food, mediocre service and faux decor.

I just learned that on weekends this 'fast food' style business turns into sit down and eat....that was ODD. I wanted to run in like u would any other day of the week, grab my meal to go but nope, I was "waited" on. Food was fine I just don't understand being quick easy take out place one day and a sit down and eat a different day.

Food was cold and service was blah. Asked which rice was vegetarian and she said she didn't know. Normally, at that time you would go ask someone else working if it was vegetarian but she just looked at me. Asked her again and got same answer. Patheic excuse for service and food. Would not go back.

Ah, Bajio... We've been coming here for the last 3 months. While my wife doesn't like Mexican food (she only goes to Mexican places for me), she actually likes this place and sometimes even suggests going here on her own, without my input. So that's a dream come true, since I can eat Mexican (style) food every single day of my life - literally. She likes the 2-taco platter with pork and lemon-lime chicken tacos. This place used to be run similarly to a Chipotle / Moe's / Tijuana Flats style, where you go through the line picking the ingredients you want. Recently, they changed it so that this style is only available on weekdays from 11am-3pm. After 3pm and on weekends, it becomes a sit-down and get served type of Mexican restaurant. So is it 5 stars worthy? Most likely not. Our initial assessment was about 3-4 stars, but the more we've been going here, the more we've liked it. I felt I needed to show some appreciation for this establishment - take it as you will. I think this place is under-advertised, and is slightly more on the authentic side of Americanized Mexican food. It's usually not too busy either. Sometimes maybe only 2-3 diners in the place. It's also sooo inexpensive. I have a portion control issue and even I get full for the price of a McDonald's meal here. The ingredients have always seemed fresh to us, and while the chips and salsa took a little while to get used to, it's definitely grown on us. I think their chips and salsa are better than most Mexican places I've been to. Also, the guacamole has a very nice avocado taste to them, instead of a everything-but-avocado creamy taste that others have. Yet, it retains its creaminess - but I do prefer it chunkier than creamy. Some cons: No free chips and salsa in lunch mode, but they are unlimited in dinner mode (after 3pm on weekdays and all weekend). Even still, if you order a chips and salsa dish in lunch mode, it's pretty big and it's only like $2.49. Also watch out for the pork because it is sweeter than other Mexican style pork such as carnitas. They do have a sign somewhere that mentions this, but just be aware that it is slightly sweet. I tend to not like my pork sweet, but it's grown on me. Also, the location is fantastic. You can sit outside and enjoy the breeze and there's only light traffic in the area there, so you won't be too bugged by cars. Once you've had your Mexican fill, you can sit outside on the benches and relax (especially at sunset), and then maybe head down the strip a little bit for some FroYo. This place is pretty good for what you get and it's a bit of a hidden gem.

First time here and horrible communication. Tried to order one thing they went back and forth on whether I could get it or not. My dad got more than he was expecting thinking it came with the meal but they decided to charge extra. And started giving me more sides than apparently came with the meal that I actually wanted. Horrible language barrier. Very frustrating. The manager rectified the situation but will not be coming back. The food was ok, had a weird flavor to it that we were not used to. It was also very loud and echoey in there so very hard to hear the girls behind the counter. Overall and bad experience.

Terrible service!! Never acknowledge you or welcome you in. They do not apologize for the wait. Expect to be looked at like a fool when you can't hear their mumbling or know what to order. Hadn't been there in over a year, expecting the service to have changed but nope! Food is good which is the only reason they got 2 stars.

I had heard decent things about this quick taco grill. Unfortunately, my experience was not anywhere close to good! I had the special of the day fish tacos. So gross!!! The fish was fried to a crunchy, tough, chewy consistency all the way through. I had a side of rice and salad. The rice was also overcooked. The salad, well, lame. The salsa they put on the taco was flavorless, and the tomatoes were mealy. The cost was 7.00 dollars. I am inclined to think I would have been off with a five dollar foot long, and I do not even like Subway in the least. Do not waste your time or your money.

I had the nachos and they were the best I have had in a long time! Very fresh. I could not stop eating them. I will go back and recommend.

Decided to go back and do an update. Check and see if anything has changed. The place looks the same. Actually the furnishings are very nice. When I ordered my tacos, I wasn't offered a choice of corn or flour tortillas. I asked the guy behind the counter what I should have, and he suggested the shrimp tacos, so that's what I ordered. I believe that the food isn't as sugary-sweet as it was the last time I was there. A little sweet, but still too much liquid. All the time I was eating my tacos, there was juice flowing into my dish. I suppose that's why everything is served in aluminium pans. The giddy, excited people behind the counter are gone. It's a lot more sober in there now. Not bad food, just not what I'm looking for.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
